Motorbike Tour on Ho Chi Minh Trail from Hoi An – 7 Days

We’ll kick off this epic motorbike adventure on the Ho Chi Minh Trail with an easy and scenic ride toward Hue City. While this day isn’t designed for hardcore off-road riders, it promises a truly fun and memorable journey.

Our morning begins with one of the most beautiful coastal motorbike rides in Central Vietnam. We’ll cruise smoothly along the shoreline up to Da Nang City, feeling the ocean breeze and soaking in the stunning scenery. From here, we ascend the legendary Hai Van Pass, a winding mountain pass offering breathtaking views and plenty of photo stops to capture the moment.

After enjoying a delicious lunch just beyond the pass, we continue our ride deep into the Vietnamese countryside. This peaceful stretch takes us along quiet backroads through vibrant local markets, endless rice fields, and rows of colorful family tombs — a unique cultural feature of the region.

We arrive in Hue around 4:00 PM, where you can relax and unwind at your hotel after a beautiful first day on the road.

This is the only easy day of riding at noon on our Ho Chi Minh Trail motorbike adventure — and it’s a truly special one. Instead of long hours on the road, today is all about exploring the rich history and culture of the ancient imperial capital, Hue City.

We’ll spend the day wandering through the city, tasting authentic local street food, and immersing ourselves in its peaceful atmosphere. You can either ride your motorbike or take a taxi to visit some of Hue’s most famous landmarks, including:

• Minh Mang Tomb – a majestic imperial tomb surrounded by serene gardens
• Hue Imperial Citadel (Hoang Thanh Hue) – the legendary Forbidden City
• Thien Mu Pagoda – one of the oldest and most iconic pagodas in Vietnam

After a day of sightseeing and cultural discovery, we’ll spend a relaxing night in Hue.

Today marks the official start of our motorbike adventure on the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail. Leaving behind the peaceful Hue City, we’ll ride north to the Vietnam Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) — a region steeped in history — to explore remarkable wartime relics and gain deeper insight into the Vietnam War.

One of the most powerful stops today is the Vinh Moc Tunnels, a massive underground tunnel system that sheltered entire communities during the war. Walking through these tunnels offers a deeply emotional experience, revealing stories of resilience, survival, and the human cost of war.

From there, we continue our scenic ride westward toward Khe Sanh Town. Before checking in at the hotel, we’ll visit the Khe Sanh Combat Base, where some of the fiercest battles took place. Standing on this historic ground gives you a vivid sense of the scale and intensity of the conflict.

For anyone fascinated by wartime history, today is undoubtedly one of the most meaningful days of the entire journey.

Today is the highlight of our entire motorbike adventure — an unforgettable ride along the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail. As one of Chi’sWheels Motorcycle Tour’s signature routes, we’ll conquer the stunning western section of the trail. Stretching 220 km, this route offers some of the most breathtaking scenery of the journey, with winding roads cutting through lush jungle and dramatic limestone mountains inside Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park.

The best part? Hardly any traffic — just open roads, fresh air, and pure riding joy. We’ll arrive in Phong Nha around 4:30 PM. If the weather is kind, a peaceful two-hour boat trip awaits, taking us deep into the park’s spectacular cave systems.

This morning, we’ll ride north through the breathtaking landscapes of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, following the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail. The journey unfolds with stunning limestone mountains, lush greenery, and peaceful hill tribe villages along the way — a perfect blend of nature and culture.

After lunch, we’ll enjoy a smooth and relaxing ride straight to Tan Ky in Nghe An Province.

After breakfast, we continue our incredible journey along the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail, riding through peaceful countryside roads until we reach Ngoc Lac Town for lunch.

In the afternoon, the route leads us deeper into the stunning western mountains of Vietnam. The winding passes, crisp air, and breathtaking vistas reveal a completely different kind of beauty from the previous days — quieter, greener, and more soulful.

By late afternoon, we’ll arrive in the picturesque Mai Chau Valley around 5:00 PM, where stilt houses, rice paddies, and friendly Thai ethnic villages create the perfect setting to unwind after another amazing day on the road.

Before heading back to Hanoi, we’ll start the morning with a peaceful walk around the lush Mai Chau Valley, visiting local Thai villages, learning about their traditional lifestyle, and soaking in the serene beauty of this green paradise.

At 9:00 AM, we begin our final ride. The day starts with an easy off-road loop around Mai Chau and its surroundings — a short yet fun and scenic route through tranquil countryside and gently rolling hills. It’s the perfect way to ease into the day and savor the last few moments of open-road freedom.

Afterward, we cruise along the winding mountain roads of northern Vietnam, stopping for a cozy lunch in Hoa Binh Town. From there, the journey continues smoothly back toward Hanoi, arriving before rush hour to conclude our unforgettable 7-day Vietnam motorbike adventure along the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail.
