We start the off-road Vietnam Dirt Bike Tour by taking the shortest and fastest single tracks to Mai Chau from Hanoi: Hanoi – Xuan Mai – Luong Son – Hoa Binh – Muong Khen – Moc Chau along the National Highway 6. On the 1st day of riding, we clear one of the most challenging off-road routes toward Bai Chao. We cross eight streams and one high, winding pass with mud and big rocks along the way.

After lunch, we make our way to Cao Phong. We will run on wheels inside a dry stream and in orange and sugarcane single track for last, then get back to national road 6. Reach Ba Khan Lake by going over a back-road and off-road route. Go along the river and lake to enjoy the breathtaking view. Arrive in Moc Chau – the valley hugged by the mighty mountains so that the climate here is dry, cool, and fresh. Also, the weather is moderate and pleasant. The valley is great to be our 1st destination, whose beauty is poetic and cuisine is rustic yet fascinating.

Drop in the historical remnants of the French battlefield during the Indochina War – Dien Bien Province. We will come to Tham Pua Cave at the foot of Pu Hong Cay Limestone. The cave (about 100m high) is a historical and cultural relic with immense value in Dien Bien Province. People have explored various vestiges believed to be ancient Vietnamese relics.

In the morning, we will clear a smooth road that makes our ride today easier. However, this route is blessed with stunning tea fields and colorful hill tribes along the way. Hit Sapa at noon and have lunch here. Shortly after, we will uncover the beauty of Sapa – a romantic town. Located in the northwest of the country, Sapa is a land of modest quiet but hides many natural landscape wonders. Then, we have two options for the 6th day: check in at a hotel if you are tired or finish another off-road track if you are not. Be noted that it’s not a road; it’s a single muddy and rocky track at an elevation of 2000m. Not only slippery, the track sometimes is even covered by fog. But we’re sure that it will be an extremely exciting ride.

Summary:

Distance: 125 km

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Lao Chai – Ta Van village in Sapa is inhabited by ethnic minorities, about 7km from Sapa town center. Starting a one-day walking journey to explore Lao Chai – Ta Van is to leave the bustling and busy streets, visitors begin to experience a different life, the true meaning of the villages.

Behind is still the hustle and bustle of Sapa town, but in front is the idyllic space of the mountains and forests. If there were no rows of electric poles bringing light to the village, no paved road leading to Lao Chai – Ta Van village, this place would truly be the “quality” of life of the indigenous Mong, Dao, Giay, Tay… . There are more modern amenities, but the indigenous people still maintain their traditional culture and lifestyle. This is also an attraction for domestic and foreign tourists who want to visit Lao Chai – Ta Van village

Lao Chai – Ta Van village is located in the valley, on both sides are the majestic Hoang Lien Son and Ham Rong mountain ranges, surrounding the village are terraced rice fields located at the lower level. Terraced fields stretch to the door of the house. The terraced fields in Lao Chai have existed for hundreds of years and were created by the talented and diligent hands of ethnic minority farmers. These fields are hundreds of hectares wide… look like giant landscape paintings with talented curving lines created by “barefoot artists” in Lao Chai – Ta Van…

Every April and September is the annual harvest season of ripe rice, the whole village of Lao Chai – Ta Van warms up with the natural yellow color of ripe rice. If you travel to Sapa on this occasion, experiencing the 1-day Lao Chai – Ta Van trekking tour will give you a memorable experience in your life, when watching the golden rice fields step by step, each step will make you feel extremely passionate.

At the end of the Y Linh Ho – Lao Chai – Ta Van 1-day trekking tour departing from Sapa, the village will leave unforgettable memories of the Sapa forest scene, and the friendly feelings of the ethnic groups in the mountains.
